I attended the picnic for the first time this past July and loved it. I am excited about the upcoming cruise memorial day. I would love to speak with you about an upcoming event I have going on this MLK Weekend, Black Diamond Ski Weekend.

For over a year I have been asking about being a vendor at your picnic. Got there to sell a few items and there was somebody asking if I had a vendor permit with the the picnic. Duh...I had been asking and asking and I even called the park district. Ok, so how to sign up to be a vendor at the picnic. I mean someone can't just walk up to me and say give me $250 and you can be a vendor here today? The picnic is a great gathering and also an opportunity for a lot of us to network and present our products and services to the thousands that are out there. What do you think about that idea? Another Great House Music Reunion. Just a few suggestions for the next year. First, where were the Chosen Few T-shirts? You guys should really capitalize on all the folks and sell special picnic t-shirts, towels, hats,...etc. They would sell like hotcakes. Second, pass the hat. There should be some sort of system set-up so all the folks out there could donate to the cause and insure the picnic goes on.
Also for next year, you really should designate a thoroughfare through the tent/picnic area. It was really hazardous to walk to the stage or to the portapotties. If there had been some kind of emergency, it would have been a disaster.

I flew in on the same day as the picnic with a backpak on my back. It was a crazy adventure. After I jump of the flight I ran to the blue line downtown. Due to the blueline construction we had to get off the train at western to take a bus shuttle to the loop and I was freaking out.
So after I got to the loop I saw the number 10 going straight to the Musuem of Science and Industry. So I proceeded in going thru this long trail and then I start hearing the music. When I got to the site it was the best ever and it was also mybirthday with all my freinds being there I consider it the biggest birthday ever. Thanks for the biggest and best birthday ever.

They have no clue of what HOUSE music is or about where I live, so I make sure to come home every year at least once for the picnic and of course to get my HOUSE groove on. I am a househead from the days of Mendel,and this is the first picnic I have attended.
I will never miss another one no matter were I live. IT WAS GREAT. I could have heard a little more old house,but other than that it was fantastic. The energy was that of parties I attended years ago. Thank you guys for coming up with this brilliant idea of this event. We got there at 8:30 am, that was to late. CHOSEN FEW REUNION IS THE WOODSTOCK OF THE UNDERGROUND! Michella
First of all I'd like to thank God for my adventurous spirit because early in the AM as I was packing my car to drive up to Chicago I was told their would be rain storms all through my route in, but I called my friend Goldy and she being a Chosen Few Advocate, insisted it would be sunny and dry! I arrived thankfully @the most incredible & inspirational house music events in the USA. Thousands of people gathered peacefully to DANCE, BBQ, socialize and vibe to the eclectic and seasoned selections of The Chosen Few DJ's. Also to be admired was the endless diversity of the masses attending the event, young kids, mom and dads, elderly folks and people of all walks of life arrived with an array of tents big and small! Whole families and large gatherings of friends set up their tents near eachother in order to enjoy an entire day and evening of family fun and music! The respect this group commanded was evident in an incident less event, everyone present seemed to be in harmony with the event! people didn't mind being close to each other and conducted themselves with manners and grace. The dance floor was so packed you could reach out an touch a person at any angle. Everyone was all smiles and even when it was apparently full they'd make room for you to get your step on! Wayne Williams set was fantastic especially the love he showed towards the late Micheal Jackson by wearing a t'shirt with Micheal's image and playing several of Micheal's songs including The Wiz soundtrack single, "You Can't Win" people cheered & I saw some shedding tears including me (I miss you Micheal) but they kept on dancing! All the Chosen Few DJ's had amazing sets and their was NEVER a moment that people weren't dancing from the time I arrived til the time I left to attend the official after event which was authentic to Chicago's Legendary Roots of House Music in both atmosphere and sound, I stayed until the dawn and felt so welcome and so energized by the Music and the people present. All I could think of on the long drive back home is that THE CHOSEN FEW REUNION IS THE WOODSTOCK OF THE UNDERGROUND! Thank you for the wonderful Xperience and for all those who missed it, please mark this great event on your calendar's for next year and here's a bit of advice if you make it in 2010, Arrive the night before or early in the AM in order to get a parking spot and a place to set up your tents! Bring Food, Water, Sunscreen at least spf30 & mosquito repellent spray and other klever anti bug devises! An apron isn't a bad idea either if your gonna be cooking all day lol! With Love, Michella

This was my first year attending and with the big names involved...I just knew I was going to hear some great music. This did not happen...Andre is my favorite, but I have better cd's in my truck, than what I heard on Saturday. WHAT HAPPENED? It took me 4 trains and a mule to get to this location, only to be dissappointed. Everyone knows house heads DANCE, but the crowd was definitely not all house. They were just people there to get there drink on and socialize. And excuse me if I'm wrong, but was Kem lost or something?? Why was he there?
He’s not house. We stayed there from 2 – 7, waiting for the music to get better and that never happened. The only thing I could appreciate was the crowd was well mannered. SORRY TO SAY, BUT I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED!

I run a youth sports and recreation program at the South Side YMCA called Kids' Nite Out. We are located right across the street from the picnic site, (6330 S. Stony Island) and will be open from 7 pm-10pm the evening of the picnic for any parents wanting to drop their children off at our program. Our counselors keep kids active with sports, games, contests, crafts, inflatables, dancing and more. This Saturday we will also have a magician and balloon animal artist. The cost is $10. I would appreciate it if you would be willing to share my information on the site. The kids get their own night out while the adults enjoy the picnic! DaviddPosey, I'm a house music Dj born and raised in chicago IL., I'm 45 years old ,very good with house new and oldschool, and I've been spinning for 5 years now, I've attended all the parties in the 80's and 90's till present day, I've watched all the D.J.'s up close and learned all the skills and was recently introduced to Mr. williams at the dating game on memeorial day weekend 2009 while emmanuel was spinning (I'm not sure if he remembers me). No matter where you go, you all always bring da party! I've been to the last three house music picnic's in Chicago and am looking forward to this summers blow out. I only ask that you all bring plenty of CD's to sell or give away. I and hundreds of others were very dissappointed that there were none available last year. Space them out through out the day so that they are not all sold or given away before "sun down" people like me can get a few. Additionally, the party you threw last Chrismas in Chicago was bangin! I don't think my friends and I have stopped talking about it yet. I can't wait to see you all and hear what new sounds you've come up with to rock the party!
PS: I love the mixes you have here on the site. How can I get a coppy? I'm willing to pay.
PPS: I've been listening to house tracks done by this guy or group (I don't know which) from Belgiam that have a really good Chicago house feel to them. It's just a suggestion but I think it would be worth your while to give these tracks a listen. The site is: http://fairtilizer.com/tracks/22307

I have followed you guys since the mid 80's. My only displeasure was the treatment by the staff at the Transit party.After coming from Evanston immediately after work & standing in line for 40 mins awaiting admissiom, the staff cruised the line & said I wasn't dressed properly . His actual quote was" this is a club not a bar". Me I'm a house head from way back (46 yrs old ) that was at Mendel, Sauers, The Warehouse ,etc from the age of 17. I jack hard long & fierce!! So I was in my Jack Uniform- long shorts & Custom Timbs, only to be turned away after the 40 min wait. I don't blame the Chosen Few, I just wish the dress code would have been advertised prior. and this is for andre..man i can't wait to hear you again ..its been years ,to be sure the pleasure dome...and i still have the tapes from there..and could you tell clesele i am still rocking the tape she made at mendle...i use to hang out with steve pointdexter and kirk and fred woods is my uncle..you might remember me i was the one who kept begging for tapes..and collecting pluggers and posters..i even got a couple you sign..like the underground 2 poster and plugger,oh you remember the underground 2 ,the spot before the box 326 n lower michigan...it didn't work for kirk but it sure took off as the box..and cleste i got the female battle tape from mendle the one i want to say you lost to anglea hurley..and i have the judges sheet.too ...as far as i'm concern you won.....i don't one why i start collecting house stuff but i did...i will bring some of these thing to show you for laughs...vinny the house collector...of 3000 pluggers and 500 posters.....man i got flyyers you guys cant even remember like the fanstaic four at saures, khrissie henders, byrd ( eric the wiz sister ) clestle ,angie hurly or the second group cleste ,kenya lenoir,(rickey lenior sister) khrissie ,byrd..the group that rock saures march 16,1985....the group everyone remember..you remember( aw shucks) ladies nite mendel ....and tell wayne or should i say dr.derelict that i still have a copy a autograph copy of undercover....and i have picture of him performeing at mendel let me stop cause i could go on for ever like the party celestle threw at the pleasure doom w/ frankie i got a tape from her that nite..easter march 26 1986....jamie was there....so was craig loftus...man !!!! or andre at hummingbird on 86 ashland on thanksgiving 85 ....man let me stop for real,,,i will se you guys and bring some stuff for you to laugh about...

Can you really it ? 17 years and still going strong. Do you remember when we were able to play touch football during the picnic? Not anymore. It's always nice to come to the picnic and see people you haven't seen in a long time, maybe even an old girlfriend or two. Hey Guys.
Great picnic this year!!! It was really good seeing everyone...reminds me of course of our days at Sauer's back in '81-'82. The picnic has grown from what used to be those of us who played at the parties to (these days) everyone we played FOR at the parties. The crowd is Gigantic!!!
Perhaps a small gathering of the early '80s crowd would be ultra special!
BTW, I took quite a bit of pics at the picnic. Maybe one of them has the CD thief on them in the background or something.
